The Health and Safety Executive strongly recommends that all first aiders (FAW and EFAW) do an annual half-day update course to help them maintain their basic skills and keep up to date with any changes to first-aid procedures and how they might impact their role as a first aider. Please note that this course will not refresh your current certificate if it is nearing the 3 year expiry date, it is just an additional yearly update.
By the end of the course candidates will candidates be assessed on the skills needed to administer first aid to a casualty who is:
Candidates must hold a valid HSE-approved First Aid at Work or Ofqual-accredited Level 2 Award in Emergency First Aid at Work certificate. The HSE recommend that all candidates who have taken the HSE-approved First Aid at Work or Ofqual-accredited Level 2 Award in Emergency First Aid at Work certificate take this short refresher course every year.
