Highfield Level 1 Food Safety in Manufacturing
What’s It About?
This Level 1 Food Safety in Manufacturing course introduces you to good food hygiene practices within a food manufacturing setting. It will give you a basic understanding of food safety so that you can work safely.
The course covers the importance of good personal hygiene and the essential elements of cleaning. It also gives you an awareness of cross-contamination and how to prevent it.
What Will You Gain?
By attending this Level 1 Food Safety in Manufacturing course, you will understand the basic requirements of food safety and hygiene within a food manufacturing environment.
In addition, you will know how to keep yourself and your work areas clean and hygienic. You will understand the role you play in reducing cross-contamination within your working environment.
On returning to the workplace, you will know how to identify and report key food safety issues.
Who Should Attend?
This Level 1 Food Safety in Manufacturing course is ideal for employees who don’t handle food, such as stock room staff, maintenance engineers, the warehouse team and delivery personnel.
Great for induction training, including new employees with minimal or no prior food safety knowledge.
However, this course is unsuitable for anyone who prepares or cooks food. The Level 2 Award in Food Safety for Manufacturing qualification is more appropriate.
Why’s It Important?
Employers have a legal obligation to comply with the stringent rules of the Food Safety Act 1990 and its associated Food Hygiene Regulations; it is these systems that are fundamental to a “due diligence” defence.
If your staff work within a food manufacturing environment, you have to ensure they receive food safety training appropriate to their job role.
Therefore, failing to comply with these regulations carries heavy penalties in the way of fines, poor staff morale, loss of business, a bad reputation and possibly even imprisonment.
