Mental Health First Aid at Work
Did you know that 1 in 4 people in the UK are likely to experience mental health problems yearly?
Mental Health is just as important as physical health, yet whilst we know how to take care of our own physical health, many people do not know how to support friends, relatives or colleagues who are experiencing poor mental health.
By developing a great understanding of common mental health conditions, as well as how best to support and guide someone to professional help, you can help to reduce the stigma associated with mental health in the UK.
What's It About?
This one-day Mental Health First Aid Refresher course is designed for those who have previously completed the full Mental Health First Aid training and wish to renew their certification before it expires (three years from the original course date).
The course reinforces your existing knowledge and updates your understanding of how to recognise the signs of mental health challenges in the workplace. It also helps rebuild your confidence in your role as a Mental Health First Aider.
By refreshing your skills, you will continue to feel prepared to identify individuals who may need support and offer appropriate assistance when needed. The course also revisits the practical tools and techniques required to provide initial Mental Health First Aid until professional help is available.
What Will You Gain?
By attending this one-day refresher course, you will reinforce your understanding of the roles and responsibilities of a qualified Mental Health First Aider, along with current legal considerations relating to mental health in the workplace.
Following the course, you will return to your workplace with renewed confidence in your ability to act as a first responder in crisis situations and to effectively support and guide individuals towards appropriate help and resources.
Who Should Attend?
This one-day Mental Health First Aid Refresher course is designed for line managers, supervisors, department heads, and professionals working in human resources who want to update and strengthen their existing skills. It is the ideal option for those who are already qualified, or looking to continue their role, as a Mental Health First Aider in the workplace.
If you are new to the topic and would like to build a broader understanding of mental health, the QA Level 2 Award in Understanding Mental Health in the Workplace.
Why’s It Important?
Did you know that almost 37% of all work-related ill-health cases are linked to depression, anxiety or stress, and perhaps even more striking is that 95% of staff say their organisation is unhelpful when managing mental health.
A Deloitte report stated, “On average, for every £1 spent on supporting employees’ mental health in the workplace, employers get between £5 and £8 back on their investment.”
The mental health industry has been stigmatised for many years, but it’s time to change that. Businesses are taking steps to raise awareness and providing training on how they can help their employees face these illnesses with proactive measures!
