What’s It About?
This one-day Highfield Level 2 Award in Fire Safety course is designed to give you a clear, practical understanding of workplace fire safety and the confidence to support effective fire safety arrangements.
You’ll learn how fires start and spread, what common workplace fire hazards look like, and why good fire prevention and evacuation procedures matter. You’ll also explore the role of Fire Marshals and Fire Wardens and how they can support safer working practices day to day.
A key part of the course is the fire extinguisher practical, giving you hands-on experience of using fire-fighting equipment safely and helping build confidence in what to do if a small fire occurs and it is safe to respond.
We can deliver this course at your premises and tailor examples to your workplace.
Because this is a nationally recognised Highfield qualification, it is a good choice if you want more than basic awareness training and would like formal evidence of your fire safety knowledge.
The emphasis is on making fire safety easier to understand and apply in the real world, so you can take what you learn back into your workplace and use it with confidence.
If you don’t need a fully accredited qualification and a certificate of attendance is enough for your needs, our half-day non-accredited Fire Marshal course could be the more practical choice. If you only need basic Fire Safety Awareness training rather than training for a Fire Marshal or Fire Warden role, our Highfield Level 1 Award in Fire Safety Awareness may be the more suitable option.

No previous fire safety qualification is required.

How Long Is The Qualification Valid?
Highfield recommends that fire safety training is refreshed at least every three years to help candidates keep their knowledge up to date and maintain confidence in their role.
How You'll Be Assessed And Certified
At the end of the Level 2 Award in Fire Safety course, candidates will complete a 20-question multiple-choice examination, which must be completed within 45 minutes. The assessment checks their understanding of the key fire safety principles covered during the day, and the pass mark is 12 out of 20.
Completed examination papers are sent to Highfield Qualifications for marking and certification. This process normally takes around 7–14 days.
Once the results have been confirmed, the results and PDF certificates are sent to the person who originally booked the training.
