What’s It About?
This one-day Qualsafe Emergency First Aid at Work course gives you the practical knowledge and confidence to respond quickly and appropriately when someone is injured or suddenly becomes unwell at work.
You’ll learn how to assess an emergency, provide immediate first aid and take the right action while waiting for further medical help if needed.
The course is practical and straightforward, helping you build confidence in the key first aid skills you may need to use in a real workplace emergency.
You’ll leave with a nationally recognised qualification and the reassurance that you know what to do when it matters most.

Who Should Attend?
This one-day Emergency First Aid at Work course is ideal for people who may be expected to provide first aid in a lower-risk workplace, or who support other trained first aiders in a larger organisation.
It is particularly suitable for nominated workplace first aiders, appointed people who need practical first aid skills, and employees who may be called on to respond if someone is injured or suddenly becomes unwell.
The right level of first aid training depends on your workplace risks, number of employees, working patterns and the type of work you do. A first aid needs assessment will help you decide what provision is appropriate for your business.

A Note About the Practical Training
First aid training is practical, so you’ll need to be physically able to take part in activities such as CPR and placing a casualty into the recovery position at floor level.
We recommend wearing comfortable clothing and flat, practical footwear so you can take part safely and comfortably.

Why’s It Important?
Having the right first aid provision in place means someone is ready to respond if an employee is injured or suddenly becomes unwell at work.
Under the Health and Safety (First-Aid) Regulations 1981, employers must provide adequate and appropriate first aid equipment, facilities and personnel based on the needs of their workplace.
Accidents and medical emergencies can happen even in well-managed businesses. First aid training helps make sure someone has the knowledge and confidence to act quickly, provide immediate help and support the casualty until professional medical assistance arrives.
The course content is also based on current recommendations from the Resuscitation Council (UK), helping make sure the first aid skills you refresh reflect accepted good practice.
The right training helps you meet your legal responsibilities, protect your people and gives everyone greater reassurance that someone knows what to do when it matters most.
How Long Is The Qualification Valid?
Qualsafe recommends that Emergency First Aid at Work training is refreshed regularly, with candidates requalifying at least every three years to help keep their knowledge and practical skills up to date and maintain confidence in an emergency.
To renew this qualification, candidates need to complete the full Emergency First Aid at Work course again.
How You'll Be Assessed And Certified
Throughout the course, candidates will complete four practical assessments, covering key first aid skills including CPR and the safe use of an AED, choking, managing an unconscious casualty, and wounds, bleeding and shock. These are assessed by the trainer as part of the practical learning during the day.
Candidates will also complete a 15-question multiple-choice examination, which must be completed within 25 minutes. The pass mark is 11 out of 15, and candidates must successfully complete both the theory and all mandatory practical assessments to achieve the qualification.
Once all assessments have been successfully completed, the results are submitted to Qualsafe Awards for certification. The Qualsafe Level 3 Award in Emergency First Aid at Work (RQF) certificate is valid for three years.
Once the results and PDF certificates are available, we’ll send them to the person who originally booked the training.
