Fire doesn’t just kill, it can destroy your business!

Every year, people die or are seriously injured due to a fire in the workplace. Fire costs businesses vast sums of money, sometimes causing them to close permanently. It’s vital that your premises meet fire safety regulations and that you ensure all your employees and visitors know what action to take in the event of a fire or emergency.

The law holds the business owner responsible

The danger of losing your business should be incentive enough to ensure you meet fire safety requirements. Failing to do so can have serious legal consequences as well. The Regulatory Reform (Fire Safety) Order 2005 requires the responsible person (employer, occupier or owner) to take reasonable steps to reduce fire risk and ensure safe escape for employees and visitors.

What this means to you

You must ensure all employees are provided with regular fire safety training. In addition, you must appoint one or more “competent persons” to assist with fire safety in the workplace. These employees should be given sufficient fire safety training to ensure they remain effective in reducing the risks from fire hazards. You must also carry out a fire safety risk assessment and implement and maintain a fire management plan.

Accredited Training

Most of our fire safety training courses are accredited by Highfield Qualifications, one of the UK’s leading Awarding Organisations.

This means that candidates undertake an invigilated examination at the end of a training course, and successful candidates will achieve a recognised qualification. There are lots of benefits of accredited fire safety training; these include:

  1. Accredited training boosts staff retention by satisfying employee ambitions and goals.
  2. Provides regulatory bodies, such as Environmental Health and the Health and Safety Executive, confidence in your business operation.
  3. Training your team to set standards helps improve your company’s performance.
  4. Highly trained, knowledgeable, and skilled staff leads to higher levels of customer satisfaction.
Our fire safety training courses are available on levels 1 and 2. The level of fire safety training you need will depend on your job role and responsibilities.  If you are unsure which level you need, call us, and we will be happy to help.

The Fire Marshal course was informative and I found the sessions on the use of fire extinguishers, signage and risk assessment particularly interesting. I think everyone should learn this basic knowledge, in case of a fire.
