If you work in a retail environment but have a lower-risk role with only limited food handling, our Level 1 Food Safety for Retail course may be a better starting point.
Food safety training should reflect the environment you actually work in. If you work in catering, our Level 2 Food Safety for Catering course would be the better choice. If you work in food manufacturing, choose our Level 2 Food Safety for Manufacturing course instead.
Why’s It Important?
Good food safety in retail depends on everyone who handles food understanding the part they play in keeping it safe. From receiving and storing food to preparing, displaying, selling and delivering it, everyday actions can make a real difference.
Food businesses need to make sure employees receive food safety training and supervision that is appropriate to the work they do. That includes understanding good hygiene practices, following food safety procedures, reporting illness and knowing what to do when something could put food safety at risk.
The Level 2 Food Safety for Retail course gives food handlers practical knowledge of personal hygiene, cleaning, contamination and cross-contamination, allergens, temperature control, stock rotation and safe food handling throughout the retail process.
Good training is not simply about meeting a legal requirement. It helps people understand what can go wrong, what they need to look out for and the practical steps they can take every day to help keep food safe for customers.
